'PDP crisis is needlessly exaggerated,' says BoT president Walid Jibrin


 Senator Walid Jibrin, leader of the Board of Governors (BoT) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), said on Sunday that the ongoing crisis within the party was exaggerated by Nigerians. 

Jibrin explained this on Channel Television's Sunday political programme.The PDP was  in a major post-presidential  crisis after the inauguration of  Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as vice-presidential candidate in June. 

The process that created Okowa split the PDP into two factions, one faction supporting Wyke in its role and being the party's national leader due to his alleged role in the crisis plaguing the party. 

However, the BoT chairman expressed optimism that  internal disputes would be resolved amicably. 

He added that the board is still awaiting a report from a committee set up to deal with complaints from interested parties. “What happened in the PDP could happen anywhere. It’s just an exaggerated misunderstanding. Instead, we need an internal solution. 

“Those who accuse the BoT of silence do not understand what is happening. We are  working hard to establish peace within the party.  and Atiku is our presidential candidate.  waiting for Unfortunately, the planned caucuses have been postponed. That is why we will do everything we can  to unite our party members  and come out stronger from the 2023 election. ”
