Football returns in Ukraine amid Russian invasion

Top-flight football is back in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. The Russian invasion  has shut down sporting activities in the country  for months.

Football returned to an empty Olympic stadium on Tuesday. An air raid shelter is prepared and the threat from Russia is still looming.

The match  between Shakhtar Donetsk and Metalist Kharkov ended goalless.

The Ukrainian Premier League, which had been suspended due to the invasion, has resumed for the first time in six months.

The Ukrainian League was suspended in his February after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of the country a day before the scheduled start date of the second half of the 2021/22 season.

The season was eventually canceled and  most regions had never hosted professional soccer until now.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is pushing for a revival of first-class football in a morale-boosting  defiance.

Meanwhile, Shakhtar has held friendly games around the world  to promote peace.
